ABOUT ALEX SHARPE

Alex began her career playing Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz at the Olympia Theatre. She next played Janet in The Rocky Horror Show, Young Sally in Follies in Concert in The National Concert Hall Dublin, followed by Jenny in Aspects of Love at The Olympia Theatre, Dublin and Mila in Aloha Kamiano by Sean Purcell.

Alex played Eponine in Les Misérables for The Cameron Mackintosh Company in England and Ireland and in The Concert Tour of Les Misérables, in Helsinki, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo and Gothenburg with an orchestra of 120 musicians and full cast.

She created the role of Bernadette in the Andrew Lloyd-Webber / Ben Elton Musical The Beautiful Game at the Cambridge Theatre, London. Alex then returned to Ireland to create the role of Kate Foley in The Wireman for River Productions in The Gaiety Theatre Dublin.

Solo Career

Appearances with The RTE Concert Orchestra; includes The Adare Festival, The RTE Proms, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Super Trouper! (A tribute to ABBA,) Razzle Dazzle, A Night On Broadway. Love is in the Air, Actual Love and Broadway and Beyond

Outside Ireland she has worked with Carl Davis in The Carl Davis Academy Award Winners, The Birmingham City Orchestra in the Symphony Hall Birmingham, Hallé Orchestra in Bridgewater Hall Manchester, the Welsh National Orchestra Cardiff and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in Norway.

With West End International Alex has performed in Beatlemania! at the GöteborgdOperan, Bond – Shaken Not Stirred in Reykjavik, Iceland and Norrkoping, Sweden and Best of The West End in Karlstad Sweden.

Alex has also performed in Iceland with the Iceland National Symphony Orchestra, in England with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Odense with the Danish National Symphony and Sweden where she toured with The Helisingborgs Symfoniorkester.

Somewhere in between all of the above Alex found time to be Principal Girl in four Christmas Shows in the Gaiety Theatre Dublin, headline a concert for The Princes Trust in The Mayflower Theatre, Southampton and travel to Chicago as principal female to launch The Pirate Queen.

At the beginning of 2008 she joined Celtic Woman and has toured the length and breadth of America and the Far East. She returned to Ireland in June of this year to concentrate on her solo career.
